No exemption to the single wage scale in the public sector, minister says
There will be no exemptions in the implementation of the single wage scale in the public sector, Development and Transport Minister Costis Hatzidakis stressed recently.
Responding to the ongoing strike action by Athens Metro employees, who object to the measure, Hatzidakis said the government would make no concessions on this issue and the law will have to be implemented.

It just boggles my mind how people who strike can get paid. I read in kathy-mary-knee newspaper recently that many of them are not even striking but getting paid. I hate to say it, but in some ways, maybe it’s the best thing that ever happened to greece by having IMF, troika, and other foreign baby sitters keeping an eye on them, otherwise this feeding trough would have went on forever. I am with teh transport minister who says he can not hide it from the greek people.. good for him!! Especially when having to deal with obnoxious employees at the metro, it makes me feel a bit vindicated to know they are feeling the heat…
Could not agree with you more. Go Sue! Spot on!
